ENDICOTT, N.Y. — Mike WeirTo take a one-stroke lead over major champion, I shot a 7 under 65 on Saturday Padraig HarringtonThe final round of Dicks Sporting Goods Open.
Weir shot eight birdies at En-Joie Golf Club, with a bogey at the par-three. This round was delayed by rain for approximately two hours. Weir finished at 12-under 132.
Weir stated, The nice thing about where I was on my weather delay was that I had hit my eighth hole tee shot, so I was down at 218 yards or 220 yards with just a rescue ball. It was a nice and comfortable shot after the rain delay. It was a nice rescue club. I made a nice shot to 20 yards for eagle but missed the middle. It was a nice birdie that helped keep the momentum going.
The 52-year old Canadian left-hander won the rainshortened Insperity Invitational last season for his only senior title.
Weir stated that Im certain Im going have to shoot 6 to 7 under tomorrow with guys up near the top. A lot of firepower there. There will be no coasting. Were going to try to make some birdies, and keep some momentum going.
