JOHANNESBURG Dan BradburyHe won the Joburg Open wire-to-wire on Sunday to claim his first European title at Houghton Golf Club.
The final round of 4-under 67 by the Englishman proved to be more than enough. His closest challenger, Sami Valimaki from Finland, fell two shots further to finish three shots behind.
Bradbury, who became a professional in the summer of 2010, was playing in his third tournament on Europes tour.
He began his final round with a flourish, just missing an eagle. He added five birdies after that, without dropping any shots, until his lone par of the day at the last, a 21-under 263.
Bradburys maiden win also guarantees a spot at the British Open.
Two other South Africans Christiaan Bezuidenhout(66) Daniel van Tonder(68) — tied for third in a tie.
The Joburg Open is part of the 2023 European Tours first season. There are two more events in South Africa during December.
