Tiger Woods says playing with son trumps letting foot heal

Tiger WoodsWhile he recognizes that the pain of plantar fasciitis in his left foot is not the best for his long-term health, the 15-time major champ said it was a sacrifice that he is willing make to compete in the PNC Championship in Orlando, Florida with his son.

During Fridays pro-am at Ritz-Carlton Golf Course, Woods and Charlie were both clearly limping. Tiger said that his 13 year-old son broke an ankle but will be fine when they play Saturdays first round. Justin ThomasMike, his father at 12:17 p.m. ET.

Tiger said that he wasnt ready for a commitment to a 2023 training schedule because of plantar fasciitis. He only played nine rounds in the three major championships this season. He complained that it was annoying to have to sleep in a boot.

Tiger said, I do everything. Its frustrating because every day I have it to do, and then on top its trying sleep in that damn boot. Its not fun. Sometimes my left leg is bleeding from the boot hitting it. Its annoying. Its one thing that I can say, hey, Im grateful to be able to have this hand and its mine. Its not a fake limb, its mine. It has its faults, but I still have it.

Woods stated that his closest friends from the PGA Tour have urged him to slow down. Plantar fasciitis caused him to have to pull out from the Hero World Challenge in Bahamas earlier this year. He played 12 holes alongside world No. 1 Rory McIlroyIn a made for TV match against Justin Thomas Jordan SpiethLast week. Woods was also allowed to use a cart during that event.

Tiger said, Its been much harder than people probably imagine. Some of my closest friends know what Ive gone through and they keep encouraging me to relax a bit. This is not my nature. I am a person who strives to improve. Thanks to my work ethic, I was also able to compete in three major championships.

Woods said that hell shut down the computer on Monday and will take some time to rest and heal. He will then attempt to get his game back on track, possibly before the Masters of Augusta National in April 2023.

If I didn’t feel the plantar feeling like that, then yes, I could tell ya. [how much Im going to play in 2023]Woods stated, Id have a better plan. But Im supposed be resting this thing, stretching and letting the heal, but Im ignoring that right now.
