Before you look at wedge features, choose which clubs to add in your bag. The most popular choice for beginners is a pitching and/or sand wedge. However, this can allow you to create distance gaps between the two clubs.

In order to get started, I suggest that you carry at least three wedges, including your pitching, gap, sand, and sand. You should also learn how to control the lower lofted lob wedge.
