A new year brings resolutions for most people but for the golf world – it means new golf equipment! Anything to improve our game and help us shoot lower scores?
The Callaway Rogue series is one of the hottest drivers on the market. It’s already been added to the 2022 Golf Digest Hot List and looks to be yet another hit for the manufacturer.
Is it worth upgrading to your Mavrik or Epic Max driver? Is it worth switching from Titleist or TaylorMade drivers?
In this post, we’ll break down everything you need to know about the latest driver from Callaway.
2022 Callaway Rogue DriverReview
This isn’t the first time that Callaway has offered a Rogue driver. Similar features were offered in 2018 for the Rogue Subzero driver and Rogue Subzero driver. They were both very popular with golfers around the world and featured a sleek, blue and black design.
Callaway updated the Rogue name in 2022 to include drivers, new irons and fairwaywoods. While it’s a clear upgrade from the technology in 2018 with the original Rogue driver, how does it compare to the latest ones?
Callaway Rogue vs. Epic Speed Driver – Worth The Switch?
If you’re like most golfers, I’m sure you’re wondering if this new Rogue ST is even worth the switch. Which is a great question because club manufacturers aren’t making these clubs any more affordable.
Let’s review the differences between this new model and their 2021, Epic Max series. Golf Digest Hot List award 2021 to the Callaway Epic Max & Epic Speed was shared with the Rogue.
They are easy to hit, forgiving and long-lasting, according to golf fans. They are popular among tour players due to their versatility and the possibility of combining triple diamond models.
Both have a lot in common design-wise. Both use the jailbreak speed frame to help straighten off-center hits. Both use A.I. Flash Face technology and A.I.
The new drivers are more like the Callaway Mavrik driver from 2020. Forget the white and green, and opt for the black-and-gold design at the club’s bottom. Callaway clubs are beautiful and don’t have any gimmicks.
There is one big difference in design between the two – the Rogue ST It does notYou can adjust your weight by using the sliding weight feature. This may be a deal breaker for players who prefer to adjust their weight.
The rear sliding weight on the Epic Max LS and Epic Max LS 2021 models allowed for fine-tuning of shot shapes. It still has an adjustable hosel that allows you to change your loft and lie angle.
Now, let’s get into some of the new technology in the Callaway Rogue drivers.
The Tech Behind the Rogue ST-Drivers
These are some of the key design features behind Callaway’s latest clubs.
Tungsten Speed Cartridge
One of the biggest changes with these drivers is the use of the “Tungsten Speed Cartridge.” This helps with off center hits and provides maximum forgiveness thanks to its high MOI.
Each model’s cartridge has a different amount and function. For example, the Max has the most (26 grams) while the Triple Diamond has the least as it’s made for more advanced golfers.
Jailbreak Speed Frame
Similar to previous models, such as the Epic Flash and Mavrik drivers, these drivers also have their A.I. Speed is a well-known term. These bars are directly behind the head and are both horizontally and vertical. They’ve been updated to add more speed, regardless of where you make contact on the face.
New A.I. Clubface
One thing is for sure, Callaway isn’t changing what’s working for them. They’ve used A.I. technology since the Epic Flash and they didn’t change that with this driver either.
They used A.I. They used A.I. to optimize spin so that spin is lowered from the face and adds more forgiveness than previous models.
1. Callaway Rogue ST Max Driver
The original Rogue ST Max driver is the best. This is the most versatile driver among the four available. It is great for most golfers, and it is also on our list for the best golf drivers for beginners.
The Rogue ST Max is now available High launch with a mid spinIt has a low profile making it ideal for everyday golfers. It also features a semi draw bias, which helps you hit more fairways and get more out of each drive. It’s important to note that this is a semi-draw biasThere is no maximum draw.

- Project X Cypher Black40 Graphite This shaft option is the lightest and most effective for those who have slower swing speeds. It weighs only 40 grams and has an extremely low kick point. Available in regular or light flex.
- Mitsubishi Tensei AV Blue 55 & 65 Graphite: The AV Blue shaft is for those with slower swing speeds. This stock shaft comes in two weight options: 55 and 65 grams. The 55-gram shaft has a slightly lower profile and a mid launch, mid-spin profile. Both are available in stiff flex or regular flex.
- Mitsubishi Tensei AV White 65 Graphite: The AV white shaft offers more spin and torque. It has the highest kickpoint and is perfect for faster swings. Available in S orX flex.
This model is available in a 9, 10,5, or 12 degree loft option.

2. Callaway Rogue ST Max D
The Max D version of the Rogue ST Max can be used as an alternative to the Max ST Max.
This club comes with a built-in draw bias, which will help you hit the ball straighter off the tee. This club is an anti-slice weapon! It is an anti slice weapon!
Callaway stated, “Rogue ST MAX D is built for a high level of draw bias, with high MOI, a more upright lie, reduced face progression, and a stretched profile at address. All these features promote maximum shot shape correction, especially for players who tend to slice the ball.”
Callaway changed the weight to be more on the heel, which helps square up the clubface at impact. The Rogue ST Max D has 20 grams of the “Tungsten Speed Cartridge Structure” while the original design has 26 grams.
Don’t worry though, it’s still very forgiving and should help you find the fairways more often with the weight adjustments. There are two shafts available, one extra and the same shafts. Project X Cypher shafts are available in 50g for a lower flight ball than the 40g option.

3. Callaway Rogue ST Max LS
The Max LS driver, which is the third option in Callaway’s new line, has some modifications to the first two. The Max LS driver is now available. Low launch, low spin profile, making it ideal for players with faster swing speeds and don’t want excess spin to reduce total distance.
The driver has a neutral flight which allows you to use the ball in both directions. This club is versatile and great for shot shapers, regardless of whether you want to hit a high draw.
The Max LS has the same clubhead dimensions as the Max LS, but has a lower lie angle (57°). Meaning, you won’t have as much “slice protection” as the other two models. It still offers the same level of forgiveness as the two previous models.
Unlike other manufacturers, there aren’t any Different shafts with their “players” club. The Max LS has one major difference: you can get a 75 gram version the Mitsubishi Tensei AV White. This is a heavier driver shaft than most stock ones so you need to have plenty of swing speed.
The Max LS is a great driver for consistent golfers, with faster swing speeds. It’s available in 9 and 10.5 loft options.

4. Callaway Rogue ST Triple Diamond LS Drivers
The Rogue ST Triple Diamond LS driver driver is the last option. Callaway started the “Triple Diamond” trend in 2019, with the Epic Flash, and it’s geared toward Tour players and elite golfers. This driver style is a favorite of PGA Tour players because it offers more playability and better shot shaping.
This driver is slightly smaller than the other three models at 450CC. This compact clubhead features Callaway’s lowest spinning driver, the 450CC. The Triple Diamond is available with a loft of 9, or 10.5 degrees.
For a club that is geared toward high-level ball strikers, I’m surprised an 8 degree isn’t available but you can always adjust the loft manually. Callaway Rogue drivers all come with a matching helmet and multiple grip options, depending upon where you buy the club.
Unfortunately, and for reasons I still can’t understand, they don’t include an adjustable wrench. For $500 plus per driver, you figured they could include the $10 accessory but for some unexplainable reason it’s not included. If you have a previous Callaway driver wrench, don’t worry, it will work if you’d like to adjust and customize the loft/lie setting.

Callaway Rogue Women’s Driver
Ladies can choose from two drivers – the Rogue ST and Rogue ST Max. The regular Rogue ST has all the same features and look of the men’s version.
It’s nice to offer multiple options as not every company does. TaylorMade Stealth for Men has three models, but only one for Women.
Only the shaft and loft can be different. You can choose from a choice of loft settings for ladies: 10.5 or 12. The Project X Cypher Black 40 gram weighing shaft is currently only available.
Callaway Rogue ST Max D Women’s Driver
The Max D driver is also available to ladies. Just like the men’s driver, this club is the most forgiving and geared towards creating a draw ball flight. Or at the very minimum, a power fade rather than a nasty slice.
Both options come with a Winn Dri-Tac 2.0 silver and black grip.

Callaway Custom Drivers
Another cool feature of these drivers is the possibility to customize it and make it 100% for your club. TaylorMade also does this and it seems to have become a popular trend among golf club manufacturers.
With over a million combinations, you can customize any one of the four drivers to suit your needs. That’s right, you can choose between eight different colors in five different zones. This club will be 100% unique and unlike anything you’ll see on the course.

Callaway vs. Ping, TaylorMade & Titleist Drivers
Although the new Callaway driver comes with a lot of perks, there’s stiff competition for the big stick. Here’s how the newest driver line from Callaway compares with other big names in the driver world:
- Callaway vs. Ping: With Callaway’s latest color scheme, both of these drivers look very similar. There are three options in Ping, including the G425 line, which is their more accommodating driver (three options total). You can also opt for the more conservative 410 clubs.
- Callaway vs. TaylorMade:TaylorMade’s 2022 driver lineup was a big change. The SIM2 was a very successful model. However, the new Stealth series is sure to be a big hit. It’s the first driver to not use titanium for the face and instead, use carbon for a more lightweight design. It also has a bright red face, which makes it stand out.
- Callaway vs. TitleistCallaway and Titleist now offer four driver options that will suit any player. They’re both sleek, with titanium faces, and tons of technology to help you add distance and forgiveness to the long game. One difference is that the Titleist TSi4 driver has a sliding weight track. Final Thoughts on Callaway Rogue Driver
The Callaway Rogue driverThis is a nice upgrade to 2022. While it’s not a complete overhaul to appearance and technology like the TaylorMade SIM2, it’s still a great option to help you off the tee.
If you’re still playing the Mavrik from 2020, this is a great upgrade and has a very similar appearance. Plus, it’s a great option for players wanting to switch to Callaway as there are four club heads and multiple shaft choices that are great for any player.
For the majority of golfers, you can’t go wrong with the Max version. It’s high-launching without too much spin and has a built-in draw bias. Switch to the Max D for higher handicappers or to straighten your slice.
For lower handicappers, the Max LS Triple Diamond and the Max LS Triple Diamond are better choices. These drivers are intended to help elite players shape and drive the ball in both directions to improve overall driving performance.
