OTTAWA — Hye Jin Choi shot a 5-under 66 and joined Narin An, a South Korean rookie, on Saturdays leaderboard at the Canadian Pacific Womens Open.

Choi finished second to An at 16-under-197 at Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. An and Choi finished sixth in the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational in July in Michigan.

Choi stated, Obviously, we are both focusing on our individual plays when we played together today. But I hope we both play well tomorrow, and put up a good score.

An had a score of 68.

An said that she didnt enjoy her play today as much as she did yesterday and two day ago. But I think that not making any major mistakes is a positive thing to take away.

After a 67, Paula Reto of South Africa was the first round leader.

Nelly Korda (68), was third, while Sarah Schmelzel (66) was a close second. Korda is coming off her first win in the Aramco Series of the Ladies European Tour. There, she came back from seven shots behind against sister Jessica.

Korda said, We always claim this is our sixth major. The crowds are incredible. Its amazing to see so many proud Canadians supporting us. Its a major event. It would be great to be on the champions list.

Maddie Szeryk was top Canadian, with a score of 69 and a score of 9 under.

Canadian star Brooke Henderson was tied for 60th at three under after a 73.
