Mark Mulder up 3 points at American Century celebrity golf event

STATELINE, Nev. — Mark Mulder, a three-time champion, made a 30-foot eagle shot on Saturdays par-5 16th hole and scored 25 points to lead the American Century Championship by three points.

Mulder, a former major league pitcher, won the event three times straight from 2015-17. He received six points for the eagle using the modified Stableford scoring system. Mulder had 45 points after a round at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Mulder stated that he gets his energy from the fans. Mulder said, Ive been there before. I know that pars will not win it. It all depends upon your ability to put, and I am doing well.

After a 27-point day, Mardy Fish, a former tennis player, finished second. He finished second with an 8-footer to eagle on 18th par-5.

Fish said, Im playing way more than in 2020, so I have a lot of confidence going into tomorrow.

At 38, Adam Thielen and Derek Lowe were tied for third. Lowe scored 22 Saturday points, while Thielen scored 20.

Tony Romo, the 2018 & 2019 champion scored 19 points to match Mike Modanos 37.
