Mito PereiraThe LIV Golf League officially welcomed a man who lost the chance to become the first Chilean to win a major championship last year.
Pereira, 27, was joined by Sebastian Munoz, another member of the PGA Tour, on Wednesdays Torque GC roster, which was revealed by LIV Golf. Captain Joaquin NiemannHe is a Chilean ex-star and former Arizona State star. David PuigThey are also back.
Pereira held a 1-stroke advantage over Pereira in May Justin Thomas Will ZalatorisThe 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club is in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Pereira needed a par to win and he made a double bogey after putting his tee shot into water. Thomas defeated Zalatoris in three-hole playoff to tie him for third.
There was speculation that Pereira, who is 46th in the Official World Golf Ranking, would join the LIV Golf League. Munoz, ranked 96th worldwide, won one PGA Tour event — he defeated Sungjae ImTo win the 2019 Sanderson Farms Championship, Pereira won in a playoff. Pereira was a top-10 finisher with six wins from 39 starts.
Over the next three days, LIV Golf League will unveil its 48-man roster. The league, which starts its second season at Mayakoba, Mexico, next week, will be launching its second season. Four active players and one reserve will make up the 12 teams. The rosters wont be as fluid as during LIV Golf’s inaugural campaign.
