Suzann Pettersen to captain Europe in 2024 Solheim Cup

DENHAM (England) Suzann PettersenEuropes captain at the two Solheim Cups.

The Norwegian was chosen to lead the team at the 2024 Robert Trent Jones Golf Club event in Gainesville, Va. on Tuesday. He had previously been named captain for the Solheim Cup at Finca Cortesin in Spain, Sept. 22-24.

Pettersen said that the decision makes perfect considering the event was being held in backward years.

Pettersen stated that this will allow Pettersen to create a strategy and a team philosophy that can be maintained. This will give the players more consistency and allow them to focus on their performance. My focus is to get the team around the players, the atmosphere, and then take that to the next level.

Pettersen represented Europe in nine Solheim Cup teams: 2002, 2003 and 2005, 2007, 2009; 2011, 2013, 2015; 2012, 2013, 2015; 2013 and 2015.

In 2019, she won at Gleneagles in Scotland. She immediately announced her retirement.

Pettersen was vice captain when the Europeans retained their title at Inverness Club, Ohio in 2021 under Catriona Matthew.

Stacy LewisHe has been chosen as the United States captain in the 2023 and ’24 competitions.
