Playing in the last group with Paul GoydosFirst-round leader Padraig HarringtonTriplett, 60, moved into the lead after he made back-to-back birdies at the par-5 11th hole and the par-3 12th. He bogeyed on the next hole, and then closed with five straight pars for a total of 7 under 133 at Canyon Meadows.
Triplett is a eight-time winner of the PGA Tour Champions, with the most recent in 2019.
