Reeds lawyer sent Chamblee in January 2020 a cease and desist letter asking him not to make the same accusations about Reed cheating during a tournament. Reed was penalized two strokes at 2019 Hero World Challenge for improving his lie inside a bunker. He claimed that he did not intend to do this.

Chamblee continued to criticize Reed over the years for cheating allegations and for his decision to defect from PGA Tour to LIV golf earlier this year. Reed claims that Chamblees opinions led to fans mocking him and calling him a cheater at tournaments.

Reed was a nine-time winner of the PGA Tour. However, he felt Monahan and his tour were after him.

The lawsuit states that despite his extraordinary world-class golfing achievements in June 2022, Mr. Reed was constructively dismissed as a member PGA Tour by Jay Monahan and his PGA Tour. He signed with LIV Golf.

The PGA Tour has suspended all members who took part in the June LIV event, without the tours permission. Reed did not sign up for LIV until the second of the eight-tournament schedule, which was held in North Plains, Oregon last month. As a result, he was suspended.

Reeds complaint was brought before the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Texas, in Houston.
