1. Tournament Winner
We’ll get the most obvious award out of the way right out of the gate. Depending on what tournament you are running you might need a golf trophy that is only for one person or for a whole team of golfers.
A plaque or trophy with some engraving is enough to give a nice touch to the person or group that has the lowest score. It’ll give them a memento that they can keep on their desks at work or on their mantles at home.
2. Water Hazard Award
Is there a golfer who keeps losing balls in the water and is just plain bad?
You could give them a fishing pole, or a ball finding device as a funny reward. You could also give them goggles to help find all the balls they hit in water.
Humor is key to a fun round of golf.
3. Chipping Award
Many golf tournaments include a chipping competition either before or afterwards.
The winner is the one who gets closest the pin from the longest distance. This person could be awarded a new pitching or sand wedge.
4. Bunker Award
Do you know someone who spends too much time in bunkers?
Consider giving them a small plastic shovel or bucket to help with their time in the sand. Maybe they can build a sand castle or two while they’re at it.
5. Longest Drive Award
This is a common award. However, you can choose how to handle this award.
A Superman t-shirt would be a funny award for the person who drives the longest. If you’re wanting something more formal, trophy cups, plaques, or medallions are always nice.
6. Shortest Drive Award
If you’re giving out an award for the longest drive, you might as well give one out for the shortest drive off the tee.
You could offer to give the person protein powder as a humorous gesture. Hopefully, they’ll take the fun humor in stride and everyone will get a good laugh out of it.
7. Worst Putter Award
Have someone in your tournament that couldn’t sink even a three-foot putt if their life depended on it?
You could give them a gift card to play miniature golf. This will not only make a great gag gift, but it will also allow them to practice their putting.
8. Putting Contest Winner
Many tournaments offer a putting contest that all players can enter, just like the chipping contest. The winner could win a new putter, or a free set of golf balls.
9. Tarzan Award
This is for the golfer, who seems to always hit his shot into the trees.
You could offer to buy them a Tarzan shirt, or give them a small tree as an omen of their incredible performance on the greens. They shouldn’t be left out of the awards ceremony just because they can’t stay in the fairway!
10. Award for the Dirtiest Clubs
Here’s a fun award that may take a bit of investigating to figure out. Find the golfer who has the worst golf bag and the most dirty clubs. As a reminder, give them a golf towel with Windex and a bottle of Windex.
11. Nearest to the Pin Award
The sponsor will choose a par 3 hole on the course to hold a pin contest.
The name suggests that the winner is the golfer who hits it closest to the hole. A small trophy with engraving or a set of new gloves would make a great gift.
12. Prize for the Last Place Team
Who says the first-place team should get all of the love?
You could give a funny gift to the team who came in last place. As a sign that they might be interested in a different sport, you could give away tennis equipment to the last place team.
You can also give them a half-hour lesson with the club pro if you’re looking for a more serious gift. That would help them perform better at next year’s tournament. Just don’t be shocked if they get some sweet revenge and beat everybody.
13. Best Dressed Award
Here’s an award that isn’t typically given out at golf tournaments but it’s still a neat idea.
Are there any golfers in your tournament who are dressed up well? Reward them by giving them a brand-new golf shirt.
14. Award for the Ugliest Swing
Here’s another gag award that may be worth handing out. For some added humor, you can award the person who has the worst golf swing a small trophy or medallion.
15. Best Beer Drinker Award
Have someone who can average one beer per round? Give them a golf bag cooler and proclaim them the best beer drinker in the tournament. They’ll definitely appreciate this gift!
16. Raffle Award Winner
Each player will receive a raffle ticket at most company golf scrambles. Give the raffle winners three to five prizes. Here are some great ideas for raffle winners:
- Golf Umbrella – This prize will be appreciated by any serious golfer! It’ll come in handy when those nasty popup showers strike during a round on the golf course. You can usually find a good umbrella for around $20-30.
- Yeti 20 oz Tumbler – Anyone can use a tumbler, but Yeti is the best. Golfers will love the fact that their favorite beverage can be kept ice cold, no matter how hot it gets. They’ll also be able to keep their coffee warm for those early morning rounds of golf.
- Golf Shoe Bag: Here’s another practical raffle prize that most golfers will love. Golf shoe bags are very affordable and can hold shoes as well as accessories such golf balls and tees.
- Golf Hat: Most golfers wear a cap or a helmet, so this would make a great raffle prize. You might raffle off one for a lady and one to a man.
