A Little Extra Room: Best Golf Shoes for Wide Feet

Best Golf Shoes for Wide Feet

Today we’re breaking down the best golf shoes for wide feet. It’s just as important to get the right width as it is to get the right shoe size.

FootJoy found that almost 40% of people wear shoes that should be wider or smaller!

To play your best golf, your shoes must fit perfectly.

This means choosing a pair of golf shoes that are comfortable and breathable in the right size and wide. Most golfers are mistaken in focusing more on the size than the width.

While size is important to secure a snug fit, width is equally important. Since the golf swing is such a rotational movement, you need shoes that allow your feet and lower body to work with your swing. If your shoes are either too small or too large, they can affect your swing.

Best Golf Shoes For Wide Feet

In this article let’s review shoes that have additional width options to help you find the right pair that can help your game. Some brands (like FootJoy), have four different width options. Golf shoes are available in four widths: narrow, normal, extra-wide and wide.. Not to mention that some brands run wider than others.

According to FootJoy, you want to leave about ½ inch of space between your longest toe and the end of your shoe for a good fit. Not to mention, a good flex. As they said in the golf shoe sizing guide“When flexed, the break of the shoe should fall perfectly with the flex of your forefoot.”

  • Sizing of golf shoes is important as shoes that are too small can lead to golf blisters and foot injuries.
  • Shoes that are too big or wide can cause swing problems due to a lack of stability in the lower body.
  • Only a few golf brands offer wide shoes for golfers, but they can help them stay comfortable during the round.

Nike Infinity Pro 2.

Nike doesn’t make a lot of shoes for wide feet in the golf world but the Infinity Pro 2 are a great option. They’re far from a traditional looking shoe and much more of a running style shoe.

According to Nike, this shoe looks like a running sneaker but performs more like a golf boot. Here’s what they said on their website, “It pairs the incredible comfort and versatility of integrated traction with a sleek, breathable textile upper that’s easy to clean. Plus, it has Nike React foam cushioning, so you’ll be more than ready to go from the course to the concrete, and everywhere in between.”

These are great shoes if you have wide feet. They are also an excellent choice if your preference is to walk rather than ride in a Golf Cart.

Choosing the Right Pair of Wide Feet Shoes

As you can see there are plenty of options available when it comes shoes for wide-footed people. Here’s a guide that will help you compare the different brands to find the right shoes for your wide feet.

The first thing to consider is the size. A wide golf shoe is a size that includes the overall shoe size..

Your golf shoes must fit snugly and comfortably on your foot. If you love a particular brand, you should stick to it to ensure that you are always buying the right size and width.

Best Golf Shoes for Wide Feet

Spikeless vs. Spike-design

The type of spikes is one of the most important decisions when purchasing golf shoes.

While metal spikes are a thing of the past (I do miss the sound of them on the cart path), it’s now soft spikes or no spikes at all. While the spikeless options still provide extra traction, they also offer support.

Spikeless shoes work best in warm weather, when walking instead of riding a golf cart and for casual rounds. While a spiked golf shoe is better for wet weather, hilly golf courses, and serious rounds where you can’t afford to slip.

If you have an active lower body it’s a good idea to opt for spikes for the maximum traction with spiked shoes so you don’t lose your footing.

You want to make sure that you are buying a comfortable shoe as well. This is even more important if you’re walking 18 holes as that’s usually four miles or more of walking! Some brands prioritize comfort above all else – like Skechers – and have arch support, extra cushioning, and more.

You can also get custom insoles. I’ve done this with running shoes and put them in my golf shoes when walking for maximum comfort.

While getting the right size and width of shoes are important, don’t forget about keeping your feet dry too. If you play in a lot of wet, cold, winter golf conditions it’s best to buy 100% waterproof golf shoes. These shoes will keep your feet completely dry, and you’ll have a much more enjoyable day on the golf course.

Some brands are only “water-resistant” and don’t provide nearly as much protection in the rain. Make sure to double check the description so your feet don’t get soaked in cold weather. Pair them with good rain gear.

Type of Shoe

The type and style of wide golf shoes are also important to consider. Do you prefer casual or athletic? Traditional? Or, bold ones that make a fashion and style statement on the golf course?

There are golf shoes for every type of golfer. They have a shoe for everyone, whether you like a classic leather shoe or if you prefer something more casual.

According to their website, “Your golf shoes should also speak to who you are. The best shoes for playing golf will match your style, so shop for shoes in different styles and colors to match your game-day look.”

Price is the last factor to compare when comparing different golf shoes. Prices can vary greatly depending on the style and brand. There are some styles that are less than $60, but the majority of shoes are between $60-$120. Some styles cost more than $200.

FAQs about Golf Shoes

Do you still have questions about choosing the right pair of golf footwear? Keep reading to find out the answers to the most frequently asked questions.

What shoe shape is best for wide-feet?

If you’re looking for a wider fit check out open sided shoes. These shoes tend to be more relaxed than a fully-closed shoe, and may have more wiggle space.

Who makes the best golf shoe?

FootJoy claims to be “the number one shoe in golf.” After researching different brands for this article, it’s hard to argue otherwise.

There is a huge selection of colors, styles, spiked or spikeless, as well as different price points. Not to mention that most are available in narrow, standard or wide fit.

Are Skechers Golf Shoes Wide Fit?

Skechers shoes are wide even when they’re standard size.

I’ve worn the Skecher Go Golf shoe for a while and think this particular model is pretty wide compared to other brands. But if the original fit isn’t wide enough Skechers does offer wider fit sizes as well.

Skechers also makes some of the most comfortable footwear available. You can’t go wrong with them on or off the golf course for maximum comfort. Plus, they’re very well priced as well and won’t break the bank.

Does FootJoy have non-golf shoes as well?

Yes! They also offer a wide range of other shoes, including boots, loafers, slip-ons, and other styles for off the golf course.

How often do you need to replace your golf shoes?

How much golf you play, and the type of weather also affects your choice. FootJoy has said that replacing shoes is a good idea. “A general rule of thumb is to replace your golf shoes every 15-20 rounds. This is because golf shoes can break down and stretch over time, providing less support and structure needed to play efficiently.”

But I must admit, that sounds more like a marketing tactic than anything else.

If you play twice a week, that means you need new shoes every two months which isn’t feasible for most golfers. I practice and play a lot, and I notice that shoes can last twice as long (or even longer).

If you have spiked golf shoes it’s a good idea to replace the spikes but otherwise, they’ll last much longer than 16-20 rounds. However, if you notice less comfort and/or blisters starting to develop, it’s time to invest in a new pair to protect your feet.

Do Nike golf shoe come in wide fit? How wide are Nike extra-wide shoes?

Some Nike golf shoe models are available with a wide fit, and others in an extra-wide fit. Although, the extra-wide fit is harder to find since they’re not as common as standard or extra wide fit.

Can I make my golf shoes wider?

If you want to stretch your shoes, choose a leather style. Leather shoes stretch with time. You’ll want to avoid certain materials like knit or synthetic as they don’t stretch much over time.

You should, however, buy shoes that fit well on the golf course.

Does ECCO offer wide golf shoes

Yes, ECCO golf shoes are available in a range of sizes.

They’re another comfortable alternative to more common names in the golf world like FootJoy or Adidas. They’re similar to Skechers in a lot of ways and prioritize comfort above all else.

Are Adidas or Nike wider?

When comparing the standard fit of both Nike and Adidas Golf Shoes, it appears that Nike is a bit wider. Both brands offer wide fit options on their golf shoes and other sports shoes.

Should you purchase golf shoes in a larger size?

You want your golf shoes to fit snugly, but they shouldn’t be too large. If your shoes are too large, you may find yourself slipping and swaying during your swing.

However, if you’re walking vs. riding in a golf cart shoes that are slightly bigger vs. tighter might be a good idea. It is for this reason that runners prefer to purchase shoes with more wiggle space, as it allows their feet to breathe more.

In the end, you will want to find the perfect fit in terms of both size and thickness to avoid blisters or discomfort during your round.

My Experience

Some golf brands offer wider shoes than others, and this makes a difference. While I don’t have wide feet I do prefer a little more wiggle room in my shoes as I swing the club. There’s no doubt certain brands and styles have a unique fit and offer more room than others.

I suggest that you buy the same brand of shoes whenever possible to ensure that the width and size are correct. This ensures you don’t have to deal with the hassle of returns or settling on a pair of shoes that don’t fit your feet perfectly.

Finally, it’s a good idea to have several types of shoes; winter vs. summer pair for all types of golf. You can rotate your shoes to match the conditions and weather of the golf course. Also, don’t forget to clean your shoes regularly and replace spikes to get the most amount of traction possible.

Final Thoughts about Wide Feet Golf Shoes

You should be able to find shoes that fit wide feet so you can play your best game of golf. There’s nothing worse than worrying about your feet vs. worrying about your golf game so make sure your shoes are comfortable.

Don’t forget, nearly 40% of golfers use shoes that are too wide or too narrow. Which is why it’s so important to buy the right size for your feet and not settle for standard fit.

The right size of golf shoes will improve your golf game, increase your comfort and give you a better experience on the course.
