An Honest Bushnell Tour V4 Rangefinder Review [2023 Edition]

Golfers have been embracing rangefinders for the past few decades.

The PGA of America made rangefinders legal at all three of its major championships back when. May 2021. The governing body made this move to speed up play on the course at these events.

I’ve been playing golf for several years and I’ll be the first to admit that I was slow to come around to using a rangefinder during my rounds. The salesman generously included a Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder in the deal when I bought my last set of golf club sets. Now I don’t know how I ever played a round of golf without it!

In the following review, I’ll go over what I like and dislike about the Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder. Hopefully, after reading this, you’ll be able to decide if it’s the best rangefinder for you and your game. So, without further delay, let’s get to it!

The Tour V4 is precise and provides a yardage number you can be confident about every time you use it on the course. Pin Seeker Jolt technology also comes with the Tour V4. This sends short vibrating pulses once you have successfully shot the laser to flag. With the Tour V4’s 5x magnification, you’ll easily be able to see all of the key details of each green on the course.

What I Love About The Bushnell Tour v4

Since the Tour V4 has so many key features, it’s hard to decide which ones I value the most. These are my favorite features about the Bushnell rangefinder. These are not in any particular order.

• Accuracy at Pinpoint:Before I started using the Tour V4, I used a standard GPS app on my smartphone. Although this gave me a ballpark yardage for each shot, it was often three to five yards less than the actual distance. I’ve never had this problem with the Tour V4 because its accuracy is always within 1-yard. It’s so refreshing to not have to second guess my club selection anymore!
• Pin Seeker with Jolt TechnologyThis is my favorite feature on the Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder. You may wonder if the laser was correctly pointed with other brands. The Tour V4’s Pin Seeker with Jolt feature makes this a non-issue. Simply aim at the flagstick, and the device will vibrate a few times to confirm that you are aiming at it. That’s pretty cool!
• Fast Focus SystemSometimes, laser rangefinders and golf GPS apps take a long time to provide the required yardage information. This can be caused by a weak mobile signal or a long process with some off-brand rangefinders. It is extremely annoying, and it happens often! Thankfully, golfers don’t have to worry about that happening with the Bushnell Tour V4. It features a quick focus system that makes it easy to see your yardage number as well as the degree of slope quickly. You don’t have to wait around for your number. Simply select your club and click!
• 2-Year Warranty: Let’s face it. It’s rare nowadays to find a company that backs its products with a solid guarantee. Bushnell will send a replacement rangefinder or fix any problems with the Tour V4 within two years from the date of purchase.
• Compact SizeSome rangefinders for golf are too heavy, making it difficult to hold a steady hand while trying to find yardages. You won’t have this problem with the Tour V4. It’s a lightweight device with an ergonomic design, which makes it much easier to hold than other brands. Your thumb will easily wrap around the entire device and you’ll be able to easily hit the red button on top to start shooting yardages.
• Slope ModeAmateur golfers have an advantage by being able calculate the slope of each hole. Thanks to the Tour V4’s ability to tell me the degrees of slope, I can decide the safest approach shot based on the hole layouts. This has allowed me to lower my handicap significantly.
• Water Resistant This one is a biggie for me because, unlike some other golfers, I like playing in the rain (I know, I’m weird). The Tour V4 can be used in water without fear. However, just to be on the safe side, I wouldn’t use it in a complete downpour though, as it’s not waterproof (only water-resistant). Be sure to keep the rangefinder in its premium carrying case when you aren’t using it.
• Access to the Bushnell Golf AppBecause of its many helpful features, golfers of all levels will love Bushnell Golf’s mobile app. The app provides 3D flyovers of every hole, as well as yardages to each hole, the flag, and the back. The app currently holds a 4.8 rating in the App Store, and a Google Play rating of 3.0. These impressive ratings are a testament to Bushnell’s dedication to mobile golf apps.
• Extremely long battery life:The Tour V4’s battery-life is another critical feature. I’ve been using this rangefinder for over a year and haven’t needed to replace the battery. It uses a 3-volt lithium cr2 cell, which can be found at most shops. The battery door can also slide open, making the entire process of replacing it easy.

What I dislike about the Bushnell Tour V4

There’s not a whole lot to dislike about the Tour V4. The only complaint I have is that it doesn’t come with a magnet on it, which would make it easier to mount it on the side of the golf cart during a round.This would be much easier than carrying it around in a carry case for the entire round.

However, the Bushnell Tour V5 has the new BITE magnetic technology. This allows you to simply stick it on the side rails of your golf cart. It would be quite simple to attach a small magnet to the Tour V4 though.

Overall Rating and Thoughts – 4.9 Stars

Bushnell has made me a customer for life. While I used to think rangefinders were overpriced and unnecessary, I now don’t know how I ever played a round of golf without one! The Bushnell Tour V4 Slope Edition is my recommendation if you are unsure which rangefinder you should buy.

Overall, I’d give the Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder 4.9 out of 5 stars for a variety of reasons. It’s insanely accurate and I love the Jolt Technology, which vibrates a little bit when you have locked on to the flag. This gives me confidence that I have the laser in the right spot.

The slope option can be extremely helpful as it factors in the slopes for you. This will tell you what the shot is actually playing. This makes a huge difference when it comes to club selection. Most golf shots involve some kind of slope.

If you are not a fan of the slope technology and just want the actual distance or you are playing in a tournament that doesn’t allow it, you can easily shift between modes by rotating the small notch dial on top. Bushnell has again hit a home run with this feature.

I love the way the Bushnell Tour V4 rangefinder fits into my hand. It was designed with stabi-grip technology, which means it won’t slip out of your hand and it’s easy to handle. It’s also lightweight, so your arm and hand won’t get tired of holding it during a round.
