TRUCKEE, Calif. — Chez ReavieA long chip shot for eagle was made on the par-5 sixth hole by Hole in One. Fridays Barracuda Championship lead was 3 points.

Reavie shot a 19 point round in the modified Stableford scoring scheme event at Tahoe Mountain Club. He received 5 points for the birdie and 14 for seven birdsies. Players also get 8 points for an Albatross. One point is deducted for bogey while three are taken away for double or worse.

Reavie stated, Its actually 2 1/2 birdsies, so if your can make an eagle you can kinda leapfrog guys in the leaderboard. I hit an OK shot on the tee, but it was slightly up the right side. I had to chip in a little further. Hit a 5-wood and was favored towards the right bunker side. I missed the bunker and had the opportunity to chip across the green.

Reavie was the first to play the back nine in his morning rounds, making four birdies. He also added birdies at Nos. 3, 4, and 5, had the eagle on No. 6 and birdied No. 8 to bring home a total of 28 points in the weekend event co-sanctioned with the European tour.

Reavie stated, I think having control over the golf ball out there really helps you. You must be on the fairway. With the greens being hard, its difficult to be aggressive with your golfers once you get into the rough. You have to drive the ball down the fairway.

The 40-year-old Mesa, Arizona native has won two PGA Tour titles, winning the 2008 Canadian Open, and the 2019 Travelers Championship.

Mark Hubbard, tied for the lead in the first round Charley HoffmanWith 13 points, he was tied for second Henrik Norlander25 points. Hubbard was able to score 12 points and Norlander was able to score 14.

Hubbard, 33 years old, is currently winless on the PGA Tour. He finished third last week in Kentucky at the Barbasol Championship, which was the first of two consecutive U.S.-sponsored events.

Hubbard said, It was tough, man, with cold and the elevation. Its difficult to see how far the ball is moving, and it seemed like every pin of our front nine, as well as the back nine, was fronted with water, so it was impossible to play with it. It was hard to get the ball close in the early hours. Once the ball heated up, it started going another 10% faster, and I started making birdies.

Norlander shot seven birdies in a bogey free round. The 35-year old Swede, who was also winless on PGA Tour, made a weekend round cut for the third time in 16 starts. He had missed five consecutive cuts.

Norlander stated that she was very pleased. Its nice that I didnt have to make travel arrangements Friday afternoon. Ive gotten used to this lately. This week, I have a much better attitude. …

There are a lot of negative voices in there, Im sure. But accepting that is the key to me is to accept it and then move on. I try to ignore those voices when Im feeling bad, but theyre still there.
