Phil Mickelsona response to Rory McIlroyLIV Golf was the subject of a recent criticism by, who said that the Saudi-backed breakaway series was a force which is not going away .
McIlroy, the No.1 player in the world, spoke out to The Guardian. McIlroy, the worlds No. 1 player, said that the game was still enjoyable. Not benefitting from the acrimony of the splitLIV and the PGA Tour.
Mickelson stated earlier in the month that he saw LIV Golf trending upwards and PGA Tour trending downwards. He also said that he loves the side hes on. Mickelson spoke out ahead of the LIV final at Trump National Doral in Miami and said that he regretted his comments but praised LIV’s rise.
Mickelson said, Maybe that I shouldnt say stuff like this, I dont really know.
If I look at LIV Golf, where we are now, and where we were six, seven, months ago, people are saying that this is dead in water, and were over that.
Here are we today, a force of the game thats not leaving.
McIlroy stated that the LIV series was dead in February. Dustin JohnsonAnd Bryson deChambeauThey both said that they would continue to play for the PGA Tour. Both were lured by signing bonuses of over $100 million and they both fled for LIV. Johnson has about $31m more LIV prize money as of this weekends final.
McIlroy has not been secretive about his feelings towards LIV and the players who chose to change tours.
McIlroy said that the us-versus-them thing had already spiraled out of control. It is only going to get worse if the two entities keep increasing their efforts in each direction. For a long time, we will have a fractured sports. This is not good news for anyone.
McIlroy was ranked No. McIlroy was ranked No. 1 in the world last weekend South Carolina winning the CJ Cup. Mickelson described it as a great win or an impressive victory.

LIV Golfs final is a team-only event. It starts Friday and ends Sunday with a $50m prize pool, including $4m for each member of the winning four man team. The tour is funded entirely by Saudi Arabias sovereign fund. Players who have been drawn for the huge prizes have been banned to play on the PGA Tour.
LIV players participation on the PGA Tour and European Tour events are the subject of legal action Both sides of the Atlantic are in progress. Uncertainty remains about who will be allowed into the Ryder Cup.

McIlroy stated that he would like to believe the Ryder Cup meant as much to them than it does to him. Maybe it does. Maybe it does. But knowing the potential consequences, I couldnt make that decision.
