LIV Golf League to expand to 14 tournaments with $405 million in total purses in 2023

LIV Golf league has expanded to 14 tournaments on its 2023 calendar, with 48 players competing in 12 established team franchises for an unprecedented $405,000,000 purses.

LIV Golf debuted this year with eight tournaments in its LIV Golf Invitational Series. The LIV Golf officials stated that there would be a $150 million increase in purses for 2023. Over the eight events, players are competing for $255 millions.

It did not announce the dates or the locations of the 14 events in 2023, but stated in a press release that it was expected to increase LIV Golfs global footprint throughout North and Latin Americas as well Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

LIV Golf claimed that its events in 2023 would not conflict with the four majors or international team events. Heritage tournaments are also available.

LIV Golf attracted many former major champions onto its new circuit. The circuit is being funded through Saudi Arabias Public Investment Fund. Guaranteed contracts are estimated to be worth between $100 and $200 million. Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Bryson deChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Brooks Koepka Patrick ReedAll of them have signed multiyear deals.

Jay Monahan, PGA Tour commissioner, suspended more than twenty-six players for participating in LIV Golf events with conflicting-event release releases. A few players, including Garcia, have resigned.

LIV Golf will host the second event in the United States at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster (New Jersey). Other events are planned at The International in Boston, and Rich Harvest Farms Chicago. On October 27-30, Trump National Doral in Miami will host a season-ending finale for the team.

LIV Golf League events will include four-man team competitions. Each team will be led by an experienced captain. The captain will have the ability to build their franchises however they see fit in an attempt to gain the most fan following and sponsor interest.

LIV Golf will host additional tournaments through its International Series in 2023. It was launched this past year by a $300m investment in the Asian Tour. According to the news release, the players will compete in Thailand and other countries such as Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East.

LIV Golf stated that the International Series would create pathways to amateurs and the next generation leading players , offering opportunities for promotions and relegations. New players could also be admitted to the league by participating in the LIV Golf Promotions event that takes place at the end.

Norman stated that the International Series will bring new talent to the game and provide unprecedented opportunities for developing the next generation of stars.
