BELLEAIR, Fla. — Due to heavy rains from Tropical Storm Nicole, the Pelican Women’s Championship will be 54 holes and will not begin until Friday at the earliest.

The only thing that has changed from the first round was Hye-Jin Chois decision to withdraw. Atthaya Thtikul has won the points-based award LPGA rookie of the year.

The final event on the schedule is the Pelican Women’s Championship. Next week, the top 60 players will be invited to the CME Group Tour Championship at Naples. This championship offers a $7 Million purse.

To have any chance of winning the top rookie honor, Choi must have won the Pelican womens championship. Thitikul, a 19-year-old Thai gymnast, has won two times this year. The womens world ranking is No. 1.

Thitikul is now the second LPGA rookie of the year. Thitikul was also No. 1 in the World in the same year. In 2017, Sung Hyun Park achieved this feat.
