A few days ago Rory McIlroyHe was ranked No. He was asked if he would accept to be No. 2 for the foreseeable.

McIlroy smiled and mentioned the Player Impact Program.

McIlroy replied, Hey! I gave him a pretty decent run,

That would be. Tiger WoodsHe won the PIP bonus pool the second year, despite only playing nine rounds in three majors. He was also in town to attend the BMW Championship in Wilmington. However, he was only there to attend a players-only meeting that resulted in the PGA Tour reshaping their schedule.

McIlroy had a great year, but he didnt add to his major score. McIlroy also won the FedEx Cup, a record-breaking third time, two tournaments, and was back at No. He was ranked No. 1 in the world and was the strongest and most consistent voice in support of LIV Golf, a Saudi-funded challenge to the PGA Tour.

McIlroy claimed he was second to Woods during the PIP. Was that a good run? McIlroy stated that he was in the top 10 in every category except one for the PIP. McIlroys payout was $12 million thanks to the expanded program. This was a huge season financially.

McIlroys earnings included bonus money and came out to $40.354,566. This includes $18 million for winning FedEx Cup, $8,654,566 for winning 15 tournaments, $1.7 million to be sixth in the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 for the regular season and $12 million from the PIP.

This is still more than the $35.6million Dustin JohnsonJohnson earned money from eight LIV Golf events. He also received a signing bonus worth $150 million over four year, which would put him at least $70 million for the entire year.

The PIP money is still being finalized and the PGA Tour is likely to release the list before or after Thanksgiving.

There were two lists: the original PIP list, which used metrics like brand exposure, brand awareness, Q-rating and Internet searches and awareness; and the new criteria, that focuses more heavily on media mentions and broadcast coverage than social media. The PIP was also expanded to 20 players rather than 10, and some 23 players were expected to receive bonus cash from the $100 million program.

Five players were on the inaugural PIP List — Phil Mickelson, Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson deChambeauAnd Bubba Watson— are now with LIV golf. The 20 best players in LIV Golf receive their PIP Bonus starting with 2023 after they compete in the 13 elevated events that they are eligible for and three non-elevated.

Woods is an exception. The commissioner has the discretion to award PIP cash to those who fail to meet the tournament minimum because they have suffered serious injury or are in an emergency.
