He only participated in nine rounds in three majors in his first season since the crash. He finished 47th at The Masters. He withdrew from The PGA Championship after the third rounds and missed The Open. Woods also withdrew his participation in the Hero World Challenge, an informal event he hosted in The Bahamas in December, due to plantar fasciitis.

Woods teamed up with the world No. 1 Rory McIlroyTo be against Jordan SpiethAnd Justin ThomasIn a 12-hole competition in The Match, Dec. 10. He also played alongside his son Charlie in the PNC Championship, Orlando, Florida on Dec. 17-18. He was able use a golf cart at both events.

He said to reporters Dec. 18 he felt like he had made a lot of progress in his recovery but that the plantar fasciitis was a setback.

Woods stated that it was more difficult than most people imagine. Some of my friends are very familiar with what Ive been through, and they encourage me to slow down a bit. But thats not in my nature. My nature is always trying to improve. I have. Thanks to my work ethic, it was possible for me to compete in three major championships this past year.

And this offseason wasnt really an offseason. … Youve seen that I can hit golf balls. I can do it all. I can practice at home. I can hit shots on the green. All of that is possible. I cant get to point A from point B.

The PGA Tours new schedule includes the Genesis Invitational, which has a $20,000,000 purse. McIlroy is one of the best players on the tour. Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Xander SchauffeleAnd Collin MorikawaThey have also committed to playing in the tournament.
