GLENEAGLES — Trying to win a maiden senior major title Darren ClarkeAfter Fridays second round at Gleneagles, a 2-shot lead was opened at the Senior British Open.

Clarke, a Northern Irish player, shot a 3-under-67, which left him alone at the top of the leaderboard at 8 under. He had two birdies and a bogey on the front nine, but a great back nine that was punctuated with four birdies.

Clarke said, Around the first nine today I was so-so. My right foot slipped a few times, but other than that I played really well.
