PEBBLE BEACH (Calif.) Steve FleschHe birdied the 18th green at Pebble Beach on Sunday to win his second PGA Tour Champions victory.
Flesch birdied the opening four holes and five of the front nine. After a strong start, he stalled on his back. Flesch managed to score the only birdie of the day with a putt that was about 8 feet from the par-5 final hole. This gave him a one-stroke victory. Ernie Els, Steven AlkerAnd Paul Stankowski.
Flesch finished with a 4-under-68, which gave him a total of 11-under-205 for three rounds and earned $330,000. The Mitsubishi Electric Classic was won by Flesch, 55 years old.
Flesch said, I hung in the there all day. I had a great start, but winning at Pebble Beach is something that every professional golfer dreams of.
Alker, the Charles Schwab cup money leader, wanted to be the first four-time winner of the over-50 tour. Els shot the best round of day with an 8-under 64 but fell just short of his first win of the season.
Stankowski was able to make just two bogeys during the week, which was his 26th start in the best Champions finish of all his career.
