ST. ANDREWS (Scotland) Scottie SchefflerHe doesnt feel any pressure to be the No.1 golfer in the world. He is the worlds No. 1 golfer because he believes others around the sport dont necessarily see him as the best.

I guess it is good. I guess I am number 1. Scheffler stated Wednesday at St. Andrews that he was No. 1 in the rankings, ahead of The Open. I don’t know if it’s something I’m necessarily perceived that manner by you all or whoever it is, but that’s not something I really think about. Im trying to play good golf, so thats all I care about.

When Scheffler was asked why he did not feel the worlds No. 1 he replied, I dont feel like there is any extra attention on my. Scheffler said, I don’t feel like there’s any extra attention upon me. I haven’t read much, but it seems that not everyone is picking me to win this week.

I don’t believe I was the favorite possibly going into the Masters. I dont know if I was the favorite going into any tournaments. This may not be true. This is just my perception, but I don’t read a lot of stuff. For me, its not like I feel like No. 1.

Scheffler is at the top since March 28, when Scheffler won the Dell Technologies Match Play in Austin. He won his first major title at Masters in April.

At 16-1, he was tied for third place in the odds of winning The Open. Rory McIlroy(9-1) Xander Schauffele (14-1).

Scheffler is enjoying his time at St. Andrews. He spent time in the Road Hole bunker No. 17 in practice. Scheffler hopes to avoid this pitfall when he tees-off Thursday. However, Scheffler stated that the courses unpredictable wind and firmness mean that he is prepared for anything over the next four days.

I think this is one of the best things about this course. Scheffler said that the course is very simple but still fun to play. No matter the weather, Im going outside and having a blast hitting all kinds of strange shots.

Scheffler has been looking through YouTube to find clips of former champions who have won at St. Andrews. Scheffler is looking for tips and tricks on how to approach the course, as well as inspiration from the likes. Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus Nick FaldoAfter winning at Augusta, the team fared well at St. Andrews.

Scheffler admitted that he is not feeling heat at the 150th Open despite being part of the elite group of players who reached the top of golfs rankings.

Scheffler stated that he doesnt feel under any pressure. Im trying to show up like everyone else trying to come here, and play well in a tournament of golf.

Its a great place to play golf and The Open Championship, but its a good thing all around. It doesnt really matter if youre No. No. 1 in the world, or No. 50 in the world — I want this tournament to be as bad or better than anyone else out there.
